Da Vinci 118 Sunglass Originals Vintage Handmade Hong Kong Gradient Lens

A genuine piece of eyewear history. These are the Da Vinci 118 by Sunglass Originals -- handmade in Hong Kong, from the early 1980s. Authentic vintage, not a reproduction.

The 118 is one of Sunglass Originals' most recognizable designs -- a bold, oversized flat-top silhouette in the avant-garde street fashion tradition of the era. Gloss black cellulose acetate with a vivid red accent strip along the lower frame, a marbled horn inlay at the upper corners, and gradient gray lenses dark at the top fading lighter at the bottom.

The Hand Made stamp means exactly that -- these frames were individually cut from flat sheets of high-grade acetate, hand-shrunk, and polished by hand to a deep gloss finish you cannot replicate at scale. Hong Kong in this era was home to elite boutique optical factories producing handcrafted frames for respected American and European fashion brands.

All markings crisp and intact. Both temples carry the original yellow oval Sunglass Originals logo medallion.
