Our Story

Everyone is welcome at this table.

I grew up seeing both sides of life. I know what it looks like to have everything money can buy, and I know what it looks like to make something beautiful from almost nothing. Both shaped me. Both taught me something the other couldn't. And somewhere between those two worlds, I learned to see value where other people didn't: in overlooked things, in worn things, in things that just needed a little love and a second chance.

That instinct never left me. In 1997, I started restoring my first home, and something clicked. I have spent the better part of three decades finding beauty in forgotten things: furniture, vintage pieces, quality items the world decided it was done with. In 2016, I took a leap of faith and walked away from a high-profile career to build Little Cotton Bend full time. I wanted more time with my family. I wanted to do work that felt like mine.

It wasn't easy. There were moments I almost gave up. A fire took my home and my business, and I had to decide who I was going to be on the other side of that. My faith carried me. My husband pushed me forward when I couldn't push myself. And Little Cotton Bend, once just a dream, became a full-time reality.

God restored me the way I used to restore furniture, the way I still restore vintage, broken things. Things that have been forgotten. Things that just need new life breathed into them.

I love anything with a story. I love making things beautiful again.

Here's what I know about the people who shop with me: you are not all the same, and that's exactly the point.

  • Maybe you've always wanted a Louis Vuitton but couldn't justify the new price. I got you.
  • Maybe you can afford it, but you love the quality and character of vintage. I got you.
  • Maybe you're rich because you're thrifty, and you still like nice things. I got you.
  • Maybe you care about the planet and want to buy secondhand instead of adding to the waste. I got you.
  • Maybe you just don't want what everyone else has, and you're looking for that one-of-a-kind piece with a real story behind it. I got you.

Little Cotton Bend is a place where anyone can shop and feel safe. I love God with everything I have, and I believe He loves everyone, all of us, exactly as we are. You are welcome here. Full stop.

No exceptions.

I'm Mandy B., and I run this shop out of small-town Alabama, usually with Wooty, my 110-pound lap dog, settled in nearby like he owns the place. God, my family, and this business are my life. Without God, I am nothing, and I am not ashamed to say that, because He wrote this story, not me. I am just grateful to be living it.

Every piece here has been handpicked with the hope that it finds the right person, the right home, and a new story.

I'm so glad you stopped by.
